AFTERNOON TEA | SKYLON X IMAAN BOUTIQUE

"Imaan Turns Two"

I was recently invited to a lovely afternoon tea event to celebrate Imaan Boutiques second birthday. We all know that Afternoon Tea is my forte, fashion & afternoon tea? Who in their right mind could resist?

We were hosted in sleek Skylon restaurant on the Southbank (where I had my graduation only months before) and had a section of the restaurant to our selves. The venue is very bright, modern and airy and the staff were terrific and engaging.

Many of you know that I don't often got to 'Bloggers' gathering or mingle too much with fellow bloggers, so I was a little apprehensive about the fact that I didn't know anybody who was attending but every one was so welcoming and talkative, we had a ball & I definitely made some additions to my circle that day.

We were given an abaya from the new collection as well as a matching chiffon Hijab. I was super excited to see the new launching Eid collection and in particular the Hijabs since I have always wanted to try and style chiffon ones.

We all got changed into our Abayas and Hijabs and met the owner/founder/ and designer of Imaan boutique & had an opportunity for a Q&A session with Rubina while indulging in cakes, seafood & delicious fresh juices & teas.

Rubina is of Pakistani origin but was born & raised in Malaysia where she began running her business alone while a mother of two young children. Her initial reason for starting the business was because she couldn't find anything which met her criteria in the abaya market so she decided to invent her own ideal.

Rubina began by running things from her home with her two young children climbing on top of parcels whilst she packed them up for delivery, but in two years she has managed expansions to 3 boutiques in Malaysia (Mashallah)so far whilst also catering to the global market online.

I managed to do a mini vlog to show you the lovely afternoon we enjoyed.

My favourite pieces from Imaan Boutique:

By now you will have noticed that I tend to stick to classic colours with my wardrobe with the exception of a few statement pieces which I often add to brighten up my outfit.

I really love the simplicity and practicality of Imaan Boutique designs. There're so durable yet there is always small details which add elegance to everyday abayas. I am a massive fan of sleeve detailing on abayas, especially the black LaChanelia away above with the Chanel-like tweed detailing -this abaya is so me and the matching tweed hajab is to die for.

My next favourite is the De Chloe Abaya which has gorgeous ruffled floral detailing on the sleeves. I think this abaya has the duritbilty of daywear as well as evening wear - it would look amazing dressed with some heels & a clutch bag.
