AERE | KUALA LUMPUR FASHION WEEK

SHOP THE NEW COLLECTION NOW ON : FASHION VALET

When in Malaysia I had the honour to be invited by my lovely designer friend Sabrina, to attend the launch of her new HOPE collection at Kuala Lumpur Fashion Week.

Aere is a contemporary ready-to-wear label founded by well-known fashion blogger Raja Nadia Sabrina. Crafting creative, innovative, versatile and fashionable pieces, Aere has been making waves since its launch in October 2014 and was recently invited to the prestigious Kuala Lumpur Fashion Week 2015 Fashion Show, winning the best womenswear collection award.

I had such an amazing time seeing all of the collections of 2016, meeting beautiful souls and witnessing the hard work of this years young designers. As a designer myself, I have so much appreciation for the design and sillhouette influence Malay designers have bought to the modest fashion industry.

See if you can spot me.

Without being biased, my favourite collection on the runway without a doubt was definitely Aere in all its floaty shaped glory. Prior to the show I had some traditional Malay wedding shopping to do and tried on many styles to familiarise myself with the latest trends and styles. I found that Aere undertook a challenging operation to combine traditional Malay clothing features with contemporary trends to equate to a modest agglutination. Aeres attention to detail, relevant soundtrack, and recognition of the seasons trend colours sealed the deal for me.

My favourite thing about the collection is the diversity of the tops/tunics and of course the bell sleeves. The whole collection demonstrated the simplicity of mixing and matching all of the pieces with ease. My favourite tops from the collection include the; Livia Jacquard Tunic top (which I just had to bag myself one of, see how i styled it bellow). The Zona baby blue Organza heart smock top (which I also bagged myself one of and can't wait to style this summer). Lastly the Melba Bell sleeve top in casper blue which I cannot wait to add to my collection.

My favourite bottoms from the collection include these three beautifully original skirts which are perfect for daytime lunching, right the way through to red carpet glam. Firstly we have the Grey Brina flowy chiffon skirt, this is my personal favourite for more reasons than one. Its a beautiful piece which I personally would wear on special occasions such as Eid or a wedding with a silver sparkly top and barely there heels, the silhouette is perfectly feminine with a little bit of lower detail to accentuate the waist and create an illusional mermaid figure.

Next up we have the fairytale Beige Aurelia V-wasit volume tulle skirt in beige, this is such a cute piece which would look amazing with a peach or white lace top worn with satin heels, because its not huge in volume I feel like you can get away with wearing this with a denim jacket during the daytime. lastly but by no means least we have the white Adoria Double Buttoned textured skirt, a favourite due to my heaving presence in the corporate world and my search for a structured, LONG pencil skirt - ladies, the life long search has ended! The Adoria skirt would look amazing with a light blue shirt tucked in and a camel coat hanging off the shoulders.

I styled my Silver/Beige Livia Jacquard tunic top with a pair of old H&M metallic V cut trousers which matched perfectly with the V cutout and silver in the tunic. I also added a little bit of evening elegance with silver/gold barely-there sandals & matching clutch.

The thing I love the most in this piece is the versatility of the colour, although its labelled 'silver' it does have hints of gold which makes for perfect composition against all of my gold jewellery.

Another way to wear it is with white trousers, cropped or skinny work best as the top is oversized. By adding a lighter colour this makes the look much more daytime and casual.

I hope to do these blog posts weekly from now on, the problem is I'm too much of a perfectionist when it comes to imagery, links and content, it can sometimes take me a week to 'prefect' something well enough for publishing, I have so many travel and event posts to catch up on this week - look out.
